WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST CHALLENGING YET REWARDING SET YOU'VE SWAM?
12 x 100 -4 @ pink 1:20 -4 @ red 1:25 -4 @ blue 1:30 Although physically this wasn't the most grueling set I've done, this set and others like it always reflect well on my progress and test my mental capacity to perform at a high level. Doing full 100s pace and making it harder on myself throughout the set when I was tired showed me something about myself I didn't know was there.
My name is Isaac Nieves and I've been swimming for 10 years. Starting at the Arden Arcade Piranhas, swimming became my favorite sport due to the individuality of putting in all of your own work and getting results from it combined with the kind team environment that fosters motivation and encouragement. Following my time on the Piranhas, I joined another recreational team called the Glen Oaks Sea Lions where I hold many of my earliest and fondest swimming memories like pool movie nights and swimming relays with my best friends. Finally, at 11 years old, I decided for myself that I wanted to take swimming to the next level and joined the Sierra Marlins. Ever since, I have created some of the greatest friendships and have spent countless hours honing my abilities and seriously revamped my limits and capabilities. The sport has shown me more than anything that people are more than what they think of themselves and staying committed and dedicated in both your mind and body is where true growth happens. “Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing.” — Pelé
