I swam in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics competition pool.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST CHALLENGING YET REWARDING SET YOU'VE SWAM?
24x50s LCM breaststroke @ 1:10 (In parentheses are the times I held)
20x50s 2 pace (:36,:37) 4x50 all out (:35)
I enjoyed this set because I believe it is important to train as I race. With so many opportunities in a set like this to refine my stroke and details, as well as push myself beyond my limits to hit pace, I gain confidence in knowing that I am capable of maintaining composure and speed in my races. I also love the challenge of racing the people next to me and using that to motivate myself to go faster on each 50.
Hi, my name is Kota Charles. I began swimming on a rec team for LifeTime when I was 6 years old. Once I turned 7, I started swimming competitively on California Capital Aquatics for two years before joining the Marlins, where I found the team and culture that I was looking for. I also attend Granite Bay High School and have been a part of their swim program for the past two years. After almost a decade of swimming, it is safe to say that being a part of swimming was the best decision I ever made. While on the Marlins, I have made a lot of incredible memories and have been fortunate to meet so many supportive teammates and coaches to guide me. Swimming has helped me develop many crucial skills such as mental toughness, wisdom, camaraderie, discipline, and grit. Throughout my career on the Marlins and high school swim, I have learned invaluable lessons on being a leader on and off the pool deck. Every day, I focus not just on making myself better, but lifting up my teammates to be better as well. As I continue to learn and develop in the coming years, I hope to refine these attributes and add them to a college program.
