WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST CHALLENGING YET REWARDING SET YOU'VE SWAM?
A set I enjoyed was a morning 200 stroke group set, where we did 20 100s broken up in 4 groups of 5 100s. The first 5 100s were: 3 at white pace, 1 at pink pace , and 1 at red pace. The next 5 100s were: 2 at white pace, 2 at pink pace, and another 1 at red pace. The third 5 100s were: 2 at pink pace, and 2 at red pace. The last group of 5 100s were: 1 at pink pace, 3 at red pace, and 1 at blue pace. I enjoyed this set because it was very challenging.
I began swimming in the summer of 6th grade (when I was 12 years old) for EDH TAZ. Here I quickly discovered my passion for the sport. The following year, I transitioned to the Sierra Marlins Swim Team, one of Northern California’s top USA Swimming programs, and have trained with them ever since. In 8th grade, I spent a year living in Mexico, where I joined the Marmo Nadadores, a competitive swim team that provided an entirely new level of training and international experience. That year abroad helped shape my perspective as both a swimmer and a student-athlete.
When I returned to California, I rejoined the Sierra Marlins and have now been with the team for four years. Throughout that time, I’ve steadily progressed in technique, endurance, and race strategy. I have made lifelong friends and have learned many life lessons through swimming, like perseverance, hardwork and commitment. The combination of domestic and international training has pushed me to grow, and I remain fully committed to reaching the next level of competitive swimming.
