WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST CHALLENGING YET REWARDING SET YOU'VE SWAM?
A set I really enjoyed was a series of 27 100s hitting all color paces throughout. It was a very difficult set mentally around the 10th 100, but it also motivated me to hit my paces even when I felt tired. The determination made me forget I how I felt and pushed me to hit blue pace by the last 3 100s. Overall, the set helped me improve my stamina in my longer events and it gave me confidence in the back half of my 200 freestyle.
I began swimming when I was 5 years old for my local recreational team. I was involved in several sports when I was younger, but I grew a special love and passion for swimming and decided to continue competitively at Sierra Marlins when I turned 11 years old. At the Marlins, I instantly clicked with my teammates and quickly became family to me. Being involved in this program has taught me that swimming is truly a team sport. Without our big family and support system we would never be able to get through those rough practices, keep positive mindsets during the cold raining meets, or have motivation to give 100% even when we feel the most tired.
My dog, Murphy, is my best friend. In elementary school, I spent 2 years writing essays, creating slideshows, and making speeches to persuade my parents to get a dog and I never gave up until Valentine's Day morning in 5th grade when I woke up to a little puppy in my living room. Ever since that very morning, Murphy and I are inseparable.
